midsection basketball

You know, just because you CAN do something, doesn't always mean you SHOULD. Saturday was a great day- sunshine, coffee, and good workout. A really good workout, involving a lot of core exercises- crunches, some "Ab Solo" machine where you toss balls into a net (so much fun!), back and obliques with weights. Felt fantastic.

Couldn't quite sit up Sunday morning- had to roll out of bed.

And today... today I feel like someone used my midsection as a basketball, just took out my ribcage and dribbled it around for awhile. Did you know there are muscles between those bones? And that you can overwork them? Or that there are muscles in your back that you can pull, but not really stretch? So you can put yourself in pain, but have no way to relieve it?

Had to invent a new way to laugh that doesn't involve lungs, or moving the diaphram. I absolutely cannot sneeze at anything. Been moving as a whole unit, turning the entire chair around to look at the prof in class, shuffling my feet to pivot in place while standing. Brilliant.

Like a hangover. Or getting a blister. Burning your tongue on the hot chocolate because you just can't wait any longer. Maybe even childbirth? One of those lessons we get to learn over and over again. Pain fading, we remember the fun and not so much the consequences.

Oh those consequences.

You gotta pace yourself with exercise. Keep it up, though! It only gets easier.
