Ah Krsna

Made a new friend yesterday. It's the third time we've met each other, but this time we got to talk. Very cool kid- studying religion, anthropology and philosophy at Naropa.

As we narrowed down our passions in these subjects, we found a lot of overlap and after letting me tell the story of Krsna's lila, he admitted to having translated the text from Sanskrit this last summer. He reminded me what I loved about it- how internalizing all this desire generates pure bliss. And once that becomes an energy within, you start to see it (bliss) everywhere. Ananda. This, then, becomes the window into divine play. Lila. He sent me his translation today. Some of my favorite lines:

"Even Bhagavan, having noted those nights in which the jasmine blooms in autumn, decided to make love, taking recourse to his power of yoga-maya.

"The moon, smearing the face of the easterly direction with dawn by his gentle rays, dispelled the sorrow of the people just like the lover smearing the kumkum on the face of his beloved with his hands, of whom the seeing had been long.

Hey Krishna, you must sprinkle the fire—in our hearts born of your soft song and playful glances—with the flood of nectar from your lower lip. If not, oh friend, we must go to the path of your footprints (feet), our bodies joined in the fire born of separation, by means of meditation. "

Hindu poetry is so beautiful.

I won't go into all the other philosophy about it, but will comment that it was nice to meet someone who spoke close enough to the language of my heart to adjust my paradigm in small ways. There are so many lovely people in this world.
